Oaxaca in a weekend

If you are going to be in the city for a short time, we suggest you visit the following sites: Friday: Take a look at the Rufino Tamayo Museum of Pre-Hispanic Art; then visit the Cathedral and sit and watch the sunset at the Zócalo and the Alameda. We suggest you have dinner or have a beer at a restaurant in Los Portales in Alameda.

Saturday: Have breakfast at the Benito Juárez Market, walk calmly through the Macedonio Alcalá Tourist Walk, visit the Santo Domingo Temple and the Santo Domingo Cultural Center. You can eat in a nearby restaurant, then visit a museum (such as the Textile Museum or the Institute of Graphic Arts) and walk through the surrounding streets.

Sunday: Go to Monte Albán, if you don't know it, or have breakfast at the Camino Real hotel (Ex Convent of Santa Catalina de Siena), stay to explore the Basilica de la Soledad. You can also visit Tlacolula de Matamoros, where Sunday is market day, where various towns that surround the area meet with their different crafts.
