Teotitlán del Valle is a town located in the valley region of the state of Oaxaca, a community who speaks Zapotec and stands out mostly for its woolen fabrics and wax candles with incomparable beauty.

The word Teotitlán comes from Nahuatl and means "Place of God" or "Close to God", named during the Mexica stay in the Zapotec area. However, the name in Zapotec is Xaaguie, "at the foot of the hill" or "under the hill", derived from the physical location of the town at the foot of a rock.

Teotitlán del Valle is considered one of the oldest communities in the Central Valleys of Oaxaca and one of the first Zapotec populations founded around 500 BC.

Counting on a rich and vast variety of ancient religious and culinary traditions and customs. From the making of shell candles, the dyeing and weaving of wool rugs, typical culinary dishes such as mole (in its different versions), liver and tlayudas, to the vast nature in the town and its surroundings such as the blue dam, Cerro Picacho and many of the natural settings.
